Our best movies don’t come from the movies’ best directors. They are from the people with the best intentions. These directors make the best films in the best ways. The problem is that those directors have an entire team pulling for them, and they have to get the crew to work together as a unit. This is the point where director-turned-actor Richard Linklater is at his best. He lets his ego get the better of him, and this is the result.
Linklater and his “Good” crew have been working on making a movie about a group of pre-adolescents who take LSD and discover that they can fly, and then they try to escape from the government and the country that they live in. It’s a movie about the absurdity of the modern world, but it’s also a movie about the ridiculousness of the pre-adolescents who made it.
Like most movies, good and bad, it’s probably a bit too serious. But if you look at the actual content of the movie, its actually pretty funny. It’s like watching a bunch of pre-adolescent teenagers in a class reunion make an epic movie. So, yeah, it’s a bit too serious too.
The Pre-Goddess of Mercy, is a comedy about how the government has created a system for child marriages to prevent unwanted pregnancies. It’s an allegory of child abuse, and its made in the style of a ’90s sitcom. The people who made it (the writers/directors) obviously have a very real problem with child abuse, so its really good for them.
The Pre-Goddess of Mercy is one of the most entertaining movie trailers I’ve seen in a while. I can’t help but compare it to the trailer for the movie Precious, which also stars Kate Bosworth, Olivia Wilde, and Sam Worthington. Both movies are about a girl trying to find love in her life, and both are hilarious. This is a pretty strong trailer for the Pre-Goddess of Mercy.
What I find hilarious is that they should have included the scene where Kate gets naked in the shower, but I think they could have kept the original ending.
There’s a lot to like in Precious, I just really hate the “goddess” part. It’s such an obvious statement, and so over the top, that it borders on the ridiculous.
I’d say theres a lot of potential in that scene, but it really makes me cringe when theres a gazillion naked girls in the shower.
In my experience, pre-grant porn is a lot less about the actual sex and is more about the over-the-top acting, plot, and setting. Some of it is cool, but it’s generally not a memorable experience.
Precious is still a good flick though. Its a bit over the top, but I still find it pretty interesting. Its a really good idea, and I like the concept of a goddess who runs a sex club, but it does seem to have a lot of potential.
