I’m not going to lie, I’ve been known to be a big fan of telugu movie’s as well. I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time believing that an actress like Sridevi would actually get me to watch a telugu movie. But when I am in one, I feel as if I’m part of it.
Sridevi, while a great actress in her own right, is also the lead character in a lot of telugu movies. But I just don’t see her as a “heart attack telugu actress.” In fact, most of the telugu movies I’ve seen have been either comedies or dramas. I can’t think of a single one of them that I have liked. There are a few exceptions, but I am not a huge fan of them.
This is actually a problem that the media have created for itself. In the past, telugu films have been very popular in India, because they are supposed to be very different from Hindi films. For a long time, we had to watch Hindi films (which are often violent) to see a telugu movie. Now we can watch a telugu movie anywhere, anytime we want.
What I find funny is that there are so many telugu movies out there. You will find that you will find a “telugu” movie anywhere, and that it will be rated PG as long as it is made in Telugu, which is basically the only Telugu language that gets rated PG.
Telugu films are often rated PG because of the nature of the language. Hindi films can be rated R because of violence. In Telugu, there are many more nuances that are often lost in translation. Also, a lot of Telugu films (especially ones with multiple stories) are often based on mythology. Thus, PG is the only rating that can be given to a film that is based on mythology.
In all of our research we have found no clear reason for the rating being higher than PG.

Telugu is a language where mythology is the norm. It’s a highly poetic language that can have a lot of depth to it. One reason for the rating being PG is because it’s considered a language where violence is pretty much expected. Though, violence in a Telugu movie is pretty much on the level of a cartoon, and is not usually the focus of the movie. In that sense, the PG rating is a bit of a misnomer.
In fact, the PG rating is just the standard for all movies based on mythology. PG-13 movies may not necessarily be for everyone, but most people are not going to enjoy them anyway.
