Amit Khare, secretory of Information and Broadcasting (I&B), had recommended to Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in prospective to reopen the cinemas in August.
Many theatres owner feels that the idea of opening the cinemas with 25% of the crowd and following too many rules and regulations like costumers have to sit on the alternative seats and have to vacant every alternative row from the filled row is more difficult.
This idea will make it worst to manage the costumers in between the movie time and sanitizing the theatres the day after day as these things will require more workers.
These things will increase the maintenance charge and the things going to be more difficult to manage.
The Navina cinemas said that we need complete documentation from the government before we are going to open the cinemas. As we can not take the risk with the life of costumers.
They further concluded that ” We are okay with the rule of 25 percent costumers as this is better than the shutdown of theatres and the audience will also overcome the fear to come out and go to theatres to watch films”.
A statement by Basusree theatres ” I hope the theatres will open soon as shooting has started with some safety rules and I am sure that theatres will also get open with some of the rules and the owners will follow them to minimize the risk of COVID 19. Let the process starts with 25 percent of costumers.
Ajanta Cinema & Rupashree Cinema
Ajanta Cinema & Rupashree Cinema has a mixed view on the news of theatres that might get to reopen this month. They want cinemas to get reopen so the business will restart. The theatres are closed from the past four months but still, they have to pay taxes like light bills, cooperation charges, etc. and salaries to employees.
The audience should feel safe to go out and watch the film in theatres as this is the prime focus of the theatres.
The problems do not end here
If the theatres get open, will any producer will take a risk and run his film in theatres as they are not sure that costumers will go out and take risks of buying tickets.
The already launched film will go out on premier in theatres as all the new films are streaming on OTT films. There are only 25 % costumers, we don’t know how the theatres will manage.
If the decision gets final of opening theatres in August still theatres need an extra 10 to 15 days to settle them as they can not open in last-minute orders.
