MOVIES WHERE LEAD CHARACTERS GET FRIEND ZONED

On Netflix and on Amazon Prime, we can find a lot of movies that relate to our lives in many ways and things that we can co-relate with our situations. ‘friend-zone’ which has been portrayed in various movies and TV shows, where even the lead characters have to go through heartbreak because their feelings were never returned. 

When it comes to the affairs of the heart, there is an endless number of movies that can entertain the audiences.  While it includes the best part of being in a relationship, it also has many portions that don’t have anything feel-good about it. 

Love that is not returned is the biggest enemy of a relationship and it can hurt quite badly. It hurts even worse when you are friends with your crush and they see you as a mere friend; nothing more. 

This ‘friend-zone’ has been portrayed in various movies and TV shows, where even the lead characters have to go through heartbreak because their feelings were never returned. 

Here we are going to take a look at,

7 movies on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix that have characters who are friend-zoned.

1) THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER 

‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ is a drama where Emma Watson plays Sam, a girl who the main character Charlie is in love with.

Even though Sam cares a lot for Charlie, she is just like any other confused teenager out there.

She knows about the feelings that he has fo her and respects those feelings of his.  As the story continues, we can see that Sam is quite thoughtful and a nice person and we don’t blame Carlie for falling in love with her. 

2) AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL

This movie centers around friend-zoning and love that is not returned.  The lead character Ayan falls in love with his friend Alizeh.  Due to her past experiences, Alizeh doesn’t seem to want to jeopardize the relationship that they have with each other.

She eventually gets married to someone else and ends up getting really sick. But Ayan doesn’t seem to have fallen out of love with her, even when he was in other relationships himself.

This movie gave us the song ‘Channa Mereya’that we now consider as a breakup anthem.

3) KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is a classical movie about friend-zoning. The movie centers around Rahul, Tina, and Anjali.

Anjali has always been in love with Rahul, her best friend.  She was afraid that he would never accept her in such a way and by the time she gathered the courage to tell him that she loved him, Rahul and Tina had already fallen in love and decided to be with each other.

It is only years after the death of Tina and after seeing Anjali after such a long time that Rahul finally starts developing feelings for her. This is an evergreen movie that never makes us bored. 

4) YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI

This movie gave us all the major goals.  Everyone might have wanted to go on one amazing journey like our main characters Aditi, Avi, Bunny, and Naina.

Even so, this movie has a lot of heartbreak moments in it.  The friendzone that exists between Avi and Aditi is one of the most practical stories out there, where Aditi grows out of it as time passes.

5) YES BOSS

Usually, we see Shah Rukh Khan friend-zoning his best friends. Although in this movie things get reversed.

Shah Rukh Kahn is friend-zoned by Juhi Chawla as she chooses another guy over him. 

6) DIL TOH PAGAL HAI

Another Shah Rukh Kahn movie where he friend zone Karisma Kapoor, after realizing that he has a thing for Madhuri Dixit.

Being his best friend, it is quite clear that Karisma was heartbroken, but that is love; it is quite strange.

7) JAB WE MET

This is another wonderful story where we follow the lead characters Aditya and Geet.

They meet very randomly and the situation forces them to grow close to each other.

As the story continues, we see that he falls for Geet. But Geet is in love with her college boyfriend.  Even though he was friend-zoned initially, we see that she finally decides what is good for her and they live happily ever after.

This is proof that even if you are stuck in the friend zone, you have hopes of getting out.
